GON : CGI anime adaptation coming this April
Classic manga Gon, by Masashi Tanaka, will have its CGI anime adaptation coming this April 2nd. The character is popularized outside Japan as a hidden character in the PlayStation fighting game Tekken 3.
In the scheduled 50-episode Gon CG anime, Motoko Kumai (Card Captor Sakura's Shaoran Li) will do the voice of Gon, and Kenyuu Horiuchi (Suite Precure's Mephisto) and Yuji Mitsuya (Saint Seiya's Virgo Shaka) as the voices of the his trusted friends.
The Korean-Japanese co-production will be directed, designed, and animated in Korea, with Director Kim Gil-Tae and Character Designer Noh Hyun-Min working with Daewon Media. Daewon Media and Kodansha are both listed as producers for the series.
The “Gon” manga series features the completely wordless adventures of the orange dinosaur, as he interacts with the natural world, depicted in lush, and realistic detail. He somehow survived the extinction of his fellow dinosaurs and interacts with paleolithic animals.
“Gon” will air on TV Tokyo at 6:00 p.m., staring this April 2nd.
